June Jam Continues to Have Local Impact


Alabama pledged $68,000.00 toward school books for the Fort Payne City School System

On Monday morning (6-28-04) Alabama group members Randy Owen, 
Teddy Gentry, Jeff Cook and Mark Herndon distributed over $105,000.00 to 
Fort Payne area causes from the band’s June Jam escrow account 
and their annual June Jam Songwriters’ Showcase.

            Alabama pledged $68,000.00 toward school books for the Fort Payne City School System, $5,000.00 to the Dekalb County Children’s Advocacy Center, $5,000.00 to the Chattanooga Speech and Hearing Center, $5,000.00 to the Helen DiStefano Breast Cancer Foundation and $5,000.00 to the Partnership for a Drug Free Dekalb County. A $17,000.00 check was also presented to John Croyle’s Big Oak Ranch for neglected and abandoned children from net proceeds of this years Alabama June Jam Songwriters’ Showcase. This years Showcase held in Fort Payne on June 11, 2004 featured writers Larry Butler “Hey Want You Play Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song”, Dave Loggins “Please Come to Boston”, Ronnie Rogers “Dixieland Delight”, Walt Aldridge “Modern Day Bonnie & Clyde”, Tony Lane “Letters From Home”, Anthony Smith “Cowboys Like Us”, Lee Thomas Miller “The Impossible” and Alabama.


Dekalb County Children’s Advocacy Center receives $5000
